Using an AABB accredited Colorado, courts require that legal paternity be verified by an AABB accredited. Until paternity is legally established the biological father has no legal rights to the child nor does the child have any right to receive financial support, inheritance, social security benefits, or obtain insurance through the father. Moreover, if the parents of the child were not legally married at the time of birth, the child does not have a legal father until paternity is established. Therefore, establishing legal paternity is not only important for the parents but the child as well.
